Secretary General, EuroCloud UK

Location: Virtual, with monthly meetings usually in London.
Working hours: Flexible, for a total of 2 days per week initially, with potential to increase to 3 or 4 days per week over the next 1-2 years. 
Job summary: The Secretary General will work with the UK board to develop EuroCloud UK’s organisation, manage its operations, grow its membership and raise its public profile. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for building up our administrative, policy and advocacy operations in line with our continued growth, representing a thriving and fast-moving industry. 

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Organisation leadership and management: Proposing the organisational strategy and activity plans; day-to-day development, operation and management within the organisation’s resources, policies and guidelines;, taking the lead as we expand staff and resources. 
  • Membership development and administration: Recruitment activities, regular communications with members; applications and renewals; member correspondence.
  • Promotion and visibility: Prepare and execute a PR and marketing strategy; speaking to media and attending events; working with sponsors.
  • Events: Managing and promoting our member events program and annual awards process
  • Website and social media: Ensuring our website is kept up-to-date and relevant to our members’ interests; executing our social media strategy.
  • Policy activism and working groups: Co-ordinate tracking of policy issues; supporting policy activities; assisting working groups on policy issues 
  • Liaison with other industry groups and events: Maintaining links, working with board members; co-ordinating co-promotion. 
  • Liaison with EuroCloud in other countries: Assisting the UK chair as a member of the European board; maintaining direct links with other countries on working groups and cross-promotions.
  • Financial administration: Help prepare and track budgets and book-keeping; ensure VAT and statutory accounts are filed.
  • Board administration: Prepare papers and minutes for Board and sub-committees; administering AGM and elections.

Candidate profile

  • A leader able to drive the organisation forward working with the chair and board
  • Able to marshal resources and prioritise work and activities to achieve results in a growth environment
  • Hands on approach, self-motivated, comfortable with a start-up setting
  • Broad management experience with knowledge of sales, marketing, finance, technology, legal and HR
  • Familiar with the cloud computing industry and confident in advocacy on its behalf
  • Experience of both small and large enterprise environments; show understanding of member businesses, channels and customers
  • Comfortable as a member of a virtual team, collaborating online
  • Able to manage own time in a flexible working arrangement, mostly working from your own premises and devices
  • Experience and aptitude as a media spokesperson; confident in public appearances
  • Effective written and oral English, preferably plus one or more European language
  • Experienced working with and reporting to a management board, preferably in a member organisation
  • Understanding of value-for-money and income mechanisms in non-profit organisations
