Rapid security makeover for law firms' 200 mobile users
on 12/1/2010 5:19:55 PM,
Supporting mobile users is a headache for traditional IT approaches but much easier to solve using a cloud service.
Blake Lapthorn, one of the leading law firms in the UK, rapidly deployed cloud-based Web security services from EuroCloud member Webroot to protect email and Web access for its mobile workforce. Of the law firm's 600 employees, more than 200 are mobile users working from laptops. They needed malware protection and acceptable use policy when using their laptops out of the office, but this would have been costly and complex to implement using an in-house solution.
Deploying a cloud solution freed up internal IT resources and proved to be "a really simple process," says the law firm's IT infrastructure manager Dominic Flynn. "We managed to do it in a month without any disruption to the business." Flynn's team has access to real-time reporting and can dynamically manage policy for mobile user, providing exceptional access within seconds if a user needs to view material outside the normal use policy, even when they're off-site.
