EuroCloud UK is the UK Cloud Computing sector’s trade association and networking community. The UK component of the Pan-European EuroCloud movement which represents and is owned by the over 2,000 member organisations that cover every corner of the Cloud Computing value chain from infrastructure to applications and the ecosystem of channel, consultants and professionals which support it through 30 countries in which we maintain a presence.
EuroCloud UK is a membership organisation, we are owned by our UK members and our membership is open to all businesses in the Cloud supply chain with a UK presence. Our mission is to promote the adoption of Cloud, encourage best practice, further understanding of the benefits and transformational potential of Cloud, combat misinformation, uncertainty and other obstacles to an informed, sophisticated and mature marketplace and work with government, legislators and regulators to foster an informed, enlightened and benevolent environment for our members and our industry to deliver the benefits and prosperity that Cloud can bring.
Practically our mainstream activities are all about value for our members – doing things which make a difference and which make sense for us to do for our community. Regular meetings which focus on business, market intelligence, networking – these are high on everybody’s list. Providing opportunities for promotion, advancement and a channel to speak to the industry – and to listen to what others have to say.
Arising from this are our G-Cloud activities, a dedicated G-Cloud resource and Working Party. We support G-Cloud (the framework & marketplace for public procurement of Cloud services) It is a good concept, the right concept and a successful concept – we think it’s going to get better too and want to help through constructive engagement to represent the supply side of the equation, so we are involved in constructive discussion, we run an independent Industry Attitude Survey and are generating self-help materials, practical briefings and events and case-studies. We are a UK organisation (EuroCloud UK) and part of the European organisation (EuroCloud Europe). We are uniquely well placed to work in, influence, analyse and observe the Cloud in Europe and the impact of Europe on the Cloud from a market, regulatory and practice perspective. We have, as a result of a membership consultation, launched the EuroCloud Observatory initiative. This has its own dedicated working party and resource and will soon be publishing its manifesto of aims and terms of reference and will have its own separate section on the website. The goal is to develop intelligence, information and resources for members and compile industry attitude data and opinions to represent on the working parties and other lobbying channels. Twitter is a very effective and unintrusive medium for updates and we regularly pick out relevant information for passing on (and we read of your news) so do follow us and we will reciprocate.
